The New Year

It’s a new year with some changes and some similarities.

I decided to change my mind and successfully ran for one more term as Chair of the Livingston County Republicans. I thank our EC for their support for a 3rd term. Our county is in good shape, although there are some improvements we can make. Our township has a good Supervisor in Bill Rogers, and I am confident he will keep what worked and change (what he can) what does not work as well.

The next two years will have a gubernatorial race. Rick Snyder is termed out. We’ll see what happens there.

The biggest change is in the presidency. Donald Trump will be taking office this month. I’m going to wait and see what happens. I always said that my leader is me. I’m not a follower. There are some things I am looking forward to seeing from Trump, and that’s some pressure regarding outsourcing of jobs overseas. I have never been a supporter of NAFTA, GATT, and these other trade agreements that hurt our manufacturing here at home. I agree with Trump on this issue. This will upset the applecart a bit in BOTH parties. I am glad to see Trump if nothing else use the bully pulpit already to apply pressure to keep our jobs home in America where they belong.

Obamacare needs to go as well, but I’ll reserve judgment to see if the cure is worse than the disease. That remains to be seen.
